Obscurity’s Truth

A nightmare it was, born from cavernous fears, raging unguarded,
Whispering images unlocked from time and from distance,
A solitary soul unbound, touched by others, yet never held,
On a course charted by some unseen hand, yet all hidden,
Hidden and thus obscure from all but the most sensitive eyes
A journey promising no more than the past apparition
Until I, at last, reach the end to face the ostensible truth,
The truth I can no longer deny; to face it… alone, as ever.
Holding a torch in obscurity to glance upon a truth unknown,
An act of faith begun with an ineloquent certainty, believing
That my journey promised the chance, not just of understanding,
But of discernment, but thus of a true recovery, and
That a disappearance would only come to be explained, only
That these pursuits might even reunite myself unto myself.
A belief which I painfully knew to be synthetic, hence unapprised
In the extreme, my mind while wafting away into a foolish dream,
Revealed only by facts which illuminate my despondency,
Both along with my self-deception and arrogance,
Deception conscripted pointedly, to fuel my woe and ecstasy, falsified.
If only the tragedy had been mine alone… mine alone…
Might it be easier to bring this journey to end...
And how shall I adhere to this path… and yet alone, as ever?
